Three Oaks (formerly Three Oaks at Capellaro’s) is a wedding reception banquet hall in Fairfield County, CT that provides on-site catering services for special events like parties, reunions and meetings. It shares the grounds with Capellaro’s Grove Picnic Area.
A Historic Venue1883: The story of Three Oaks began when John Capellaro, a shoemaker, first arrived as an immigrant to Danbury, CT in 1883.
1911: Capellaro bought a homestead in the Stony Hill area and converted the nearby grove into a picnic area for the public. The grove became popular as a spot for clambakes and large picnics, hosting up to 1,000 guests at a time.
1930s: The banquet hall and catering services were added in the ‘30s, owned and operated by the Capellaro family who did all the food preparation for weddings and other special affairs.
1965: The Capellaro family sold the property to Joe and Jeanne Bajoros who continued with the catered picnics for the next few decades but left the banquet hall idle.
1996: They sold the property to Joe Zering and Bob Osterman, who own and operate it to this day. Joe and Bob renovated the building at a cost of $1 million, bringing it back to life as one of the most elegant yet affordable banquet halls in CT. It has since become a popular venue for all manner of special events, particularly wedding receptions.
Today, Three Oaks caters sit-down meals and buffets in the banquet hall as well as casual outdoor gatherings at Capellaro’s Grove picnic area.
